My Work

GIS project

Synopsis of my project

Marine animals are huge providers of the vast ocean around us when we look beneath the waves there’s a whole world of living creatures we haven’t discovered yet. So other than us there is life below the surface and that life is the provider of our economy. The money and resources we get from the ocean is what keeps our world running. Because marine animals are able to evolve just like everything around us the ocean is constantly changing and species are either going extinct, benefiting, or changing. The constant flow of the ocean has provided us with more seafood than we can imagine, enough oxygen we need to breathe, not only that but even some marine animals such as whales and seals are able to create a “biological pump” in the ocean that helps counteract effects of global warming according to scientists.

Here you can find the synopsis of my project (pg. 28) along with a bunch of other students projects, (This project earned me 2nd place for the Symposium award.)

Synopsis of my project

This project focused on the average concentration of Microorganisms and Micro-debris in the Hudson River. Through data collection I was able to find a variety of Microorganisms and Micro-debris using a Manta-toe. Discovering high amounts of Microfibers, Copepods, and Organic-debris.
